The Desert Sage Spinners and Weavers Guild traces its roots back almost five decades to when an enthusiastic group of weavers in the South Okanagan got together to share new ideas, learn from each other and develop new skills.
Over the years the Guild has tripled its membership and expanded its interests to encompass all forms of the fibre arts and crafts. The Guild owes its longevity to members who offered their time, expertise and enthusiasm. The Guild also owes its success to the Town of Oliver and Oliver Parks and Recreation who over the years have shown their commitment to providing the needed facilities and spaces for local groups to flourish. Thanks also goes to the Oliver Community Arts Council who have supported the Guild (and so many other creative groups in the region) throughout the years. The result is a community organization with a long and colourful story to tell. Here are some of the highlights of the past five decades. |
